This course is for those wishing to engage in an in-depth practice in
either
Painting or
Sculpture.
Ongoing studio classes will be the central focus of our studies, augmented by
seminars and/or ongoing classes in the History of Art and Human Consciousness,
Goethean based aesthetics using
Art as Spiritual Activity
[Steiner/Howard] as a text, visual arts in the Waldorf curriculum, nature
studies and other related subjects. Students will be expected to make a
significant time commitment to self-directed studio time.

- those wanting to become art specialist teachers in a Waldorf school
or other setting
- individuals in need of creative renewal or an enriching sabbatical
- aspiring artists seeking experienced, artistic guidance based on a
spiritual-scientific perspective
Pre-requisite: Foundation Studies in Anthroposophy or equivalent.
Alkion Certificates of Completion will be conferred on participants who
satisfactorily meet the course requirements.
Studio work and exercises will be designed to meet the needs/interests
of the group and the individual student.
The Visual Arts course is slated to begin in late September of 2010 and run
until mid-April of 2011 (exact dates to be announced). Tuition for the entire
year will be between $3600 and $5200, depending on the number of participants.
Tuition covers 10-12 hours of instruction per week
and studio space. Material fees will be additional. The $50 application fee
will be credited towards tuition if received by June 1, 2010. Part time
participation will also be considered in respect to total enrollment.
